In this podcast interview with “How It Looks From Here,” I talk with host Mary Clare about my longstanding relationships with writing and rewilding, and how the two have been intertwined throughout my life and career. A social psychologist and deep thinker, Mary guides our conversation with skill, generosity, and her own love for wild nature.

Mary Clare and Gary Ferguson are the founders of the “Full Ecology” project, ambitiously aimed at “reclaiming our human nature.” I reviewed their book by the same title for Earth Island Journal in 2021. Gary is the gifted author of many outstanding books about wildness—and also served as one of my faculty mentors while I was pursuing an MFA in creative writing.
