Sounds of Spring
In contrast to urban noises, which can cause angst and insomnia, natural sounds like birdsong and flowing water improve mood, reduce stress, and encourage relaxation. For many of us in the Puget Sound region, Pacific treefrog calls top the charts.
This is how I begin my current “Wild Wonders” column for Tideland magazine, whose editor made my day by featuring treefrogs on the cover. I can hear their chorus as I write—inspiring me to look past the dreary clouds outside my window toward the magnificent spring ahead. You can listen to the serenade, too, by simply following a link.
