Featured on Wild Kingdom
In January, I wrote about a memorable trip to Zoo Montana, where my husband and I spent the better part of a day engaging with three wolverines in human care. I’m excited to announce that our visit was captured in an upcoming episode of Mutual of Omaha’s Wild Kingdom: Protecting the Wild—scheduled to air on Saturday morning, November 29, on NBC.
Wild Kingdom, in its first iteration, was an integral part of my childhood and an early inspiration for my career (you can read more an upcoming “behind-the-scenes” blog post.) To be featured on the show is truly a dream come true, and hosts Rae Wynn-Grant and Peter Gros—along with WK’s producers and other staff—made the whole experience so positive and fun that the stress of being on television melted away like a snowfield in summer.
A month after working with Rae at Zoo Montana, we ventured into the Cascades with Peter and crew to visit one of our remote camera stations, and then we finished filming at Woodland Park Zoo, where we showcased the automated scent dispenser that has become central to our research.
I’m grateful that Wild Kingdom made such an investment in our work to study and protect wolverines. Please watch the episode live on Thanksgiving weekend if you can (Saturday at 9am PST on Seattle King 5, or check NBC’s schedule for local programming.) The show should be available for streaming on Peacock and NBC.com by December 1.
